The benchmark for organic Grenache in Terra Alta
Organic viticulture focused on purity and elegance
This Gandesa-based winery manages 52 hectares of organic vineyards to produce DO Terra Alta wines. Founded by Núria Altés and Rafael De Haan, the project prioritizes the recovery of old vines and landscape conservation. The range features fresh Grenache wines that reflect the character of the limestone terroir.
Heritage recovery and commitment to the landscape

Herència Altés began its journey in 2010 in Batea, rooted in the viticultural tradition of Núria Altés’ family and the vision of Rafael De Haan.
In 2016, the project was consolidated with the opening of its winery at the Lo Grau de l’Inquisidor estate. The property manages 50 hectares of certified organic vineyards located between 330 and 500 meters above sea level. Respect for natural heritage is a fundamental pillar, integrating dry-stone walls and biodiversity projects into agricultural management. The continental Mediterranean climate, marked by the Garbí and Mestral winds, ensures optimal grape health and thermal oscillations that enhance freshness. Plots such as La Serra or La Xalamera feature low-yield old vines that provide exceptional concentration and structure to every harvest.
Crafting Grenache with identity and precision
Winemaking at Herència Altés focuses on preserving the typicity of indigenous varieties on “panal” soils and calcareous clays.
White Grenache is the absolute star, accompanied by Black Grenache and Hairy Grenache (Garnatxa Peluda). The winery applies an oenological approach that seeks fruit purity, avoiding interventions that might mask the product’s natural elegance. Wines such as La Serra Blanc, Lo Grau de l’Inquisidor, or the single-varietal La Pilosa define a collection based on minerality and longevity. Each reference aims to tell the story of a specific plot, using cover crops and agroecology to boost soil health. The result is a range of wines noted for their silky profile and balanced acidity, establishing themselves as modern benchmarks within the Terra Alta region.
Active wine tourism overlooking the Els Ports mountains
The experience at Herència Altés invites visitors to discover the winemaking process in a setting surrounded by olive and almond trees.
The winery offers guided tours and specialized tastings that showcase its commitment to land conservation. The offer is complemented by La Xalamera wine bar, a space where guests can enjoy the estate’s wines paired with local gastronomic proposals. Activities are designed for groups and wine lovers seeking a direct connection with artisanal and organic production. Prior booking is recommended to enjoy a tour that combines spectacular landscapes with precision viticulture. The winery’s strategic location allows visitors to observe how geography influences the character of the wines, completing a sensory journey from the vineyard to the glass.
